This is one of the well-known classic megawads and one of the best vanilla Doom wads I've ever played.
Most maps are highly detailed, some even show overwhelming architecture and texturing. Even today, 8 years after its release, when standards for SP-maps have strongly increased, this wad is an optical masterpiece.
The fights and challenges are quite tight but always fair, and you should always be prepared for sneaky traps and tricks.
The music is carefully chosen and always convincing.
The most stunning aspect of this wad is the number and ingenuity of editing tricks. Today, we're used to all the special effects of ZDoom and other ports. But this wad was made for vanilla Doom and the exhausting use of effects must have been revolutionary.
The maps' layouts range from small and simple to rather large and complex. And overall, it's a good diversity of both and it should provide you with some hours of fun.
This is a must-play for any SP-lover and should be a reference for every mapper in respect of architecture and detailing.
